A new infrastructure layer for understanding the planet and making better decisions.
Why we invested
The world now generates vast streams of satellite and geospatial data, yet extracting meaningful insights remains painfully expensive and slow. The AI revolution has largely bypassed Earth observation because the complexity of processing imagery—managing data pipelines, aligning coordinate systems, interpreting spectral data—has kept all but the largest organizations locked out. This is the infrastructure bottleneck. LGND is solving it by building a unified, AI-native interface to the geospatial world.
LGND's platform connects pretrained geospatial foundation models—like those developed by Clay and similar projects—to real-world workflows in a way that is dramatically faster, simpler, and cheaper than anything available today. The technology abstracts away the complexity of Earth observation and makes it accessible to developers, researchers, and enterprises through simple APIs. This opens up a new frontier of geo-aware applications: automated monitoring of infrastructure, carbon stocks, and land use; more accurate climate and environmental risk assessment; and new tools for agricultural and ecological planning. LGND is positioned to become the essential platform for this emerging capability.
